Is gas boosting better than electric boosting?

I wish I had a dollar for every time I have been asked this question.

There are many differing views on this question. Consideration must be given to the initial purchase and installation costs, expected energy consumption, energy costs, and expected maintenance costs.

Then there are the environmental impacts of energy consumption, embodied energy and water usage. Lastly, there is the system’s location.

With all this weighed up, in 99.9% of all cases, I would recommend electric boosting over gas boosting for split systems in the Canberra Queanbeyan region.
