What is done during a five year service?
- All hot water systems with a storage tank require one service at least once every 5 years. During this service you will need to have..
- The temperature and pressure relief valve (TPRV) changed.
- The TPRV drain pipe tested for blockages.
- The cold water expansion valve (CWEV) tested (if fitted).
- The inlet pipe strainer cleaned (if fitted).
- The hot water tempering valve changed.
- The pressure limiting valve (PLV), element and thermostat checked.
- If you live in a area with high mineralisation in the water, you will need to have the sacrificial anode replaced to prevent rust. This is not required in Canberra, but it can be done for peace of mind.
- If you have a roof mounted system with glycol filled panels, you should have the glycol replaced too.
